What is The SoapBox Project? |
The SoapBox Project is a collection of music, words, ideas, musicians, locations, eardrums and pulses. We are often asked, "What does your band name mean?" so we have decided to attempt to answer this perplexing question with a few little pieces of background history to slow you down to speed... A soapbox is a raised platform on which one stands to make an impromptu speech, often about a political subject. It is also used to express concerns or to release frustration. The term is also used metaphorically to describe a person engaging in often flamboyant impromptu or unofficial public speaking, as in the phrases "He's on his soapbox", or "Get off of your soapbox." Hyde Park, London is known for its Sunday soapbox orators, who have assembled at Speaker's Corner since 1872 to discuss religion, politics, and other topics. The term originates from when speakers would stand on a wooden box meant for holding soap. A modern form of the soapbox is a blog; a website on which a user publishes one's thoughts to whomever reads the page.
Other than that, you're gonna' have to decide for yourself but I will say this, don't just listen to one song, listen to a few before you make any decisions on what this sounds like..... |
